logo illustration and app graphics: Arabella Howell
artist bio: Arabella Howell is a 19-year-old emerging artist from Pezihutazizi Oyate (Upper Sioux, MN). “I chose watercolor as the medium for all my work in this project, drawn to its natural fluidity and its deeper connection to life itself. In my language we say Mni Wiconi – “Water is Life” – a reminder that water sustains all living things. Using watercolor felt like a powerful way to honor that truth and bring all my pieces to life.”
The 2024-2025 Minnesota Parks Artist-in-Residence Program (MnPAiR) is an initiative of the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission in partnership with Sherburne and Wright County Parks and Recreation Departments, with funding from the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment.
